Knowledge, Rightly Used, Aligns With the Divine
Knowledge is power — but for what?
We are told that knowledge is power. But *Nature of the Divine* asks a sharper question: power *for what*? If knowledge is gathered only to feed the ego, to dominate, to accumulate, it can carry us further from the divine. The book offers a different aim:
"The true end of all knowledge is to align it with the nature of the Divine."
Knowledge as a reflection
The book frames the mind as a mirror and knowledge as a reflection of the world into it:
"Knowledge as a reflection of the outside world in our..."
We learn by reflecting reality into the mind. But a mirror can be cluttered or clear, and the book insists the *quality* of knowledge depends on the clarity of the one who holds it.
The danger of knowledge without wisdom
The book warns about possessing knowledge the wrong way:
"One should not merely possess knowledge but should behold it in its clear form and..."
Knowledge that merely puffs up, that is hoarded for status, that is held rigidly — this is knowledge out of alignment. It makes a person "powerful" in the world's eyes but leaves the soul unfed.
The book even hints at mastery without soul:
"...knowledge about anything and to master it" — can make a person powerful, but he warns power without divine alignment is hollow.
The test of true knowledge
How do you know your knowledge is aligned with the divine?
- Does it make you humbler or prouder? — true knowledge humbles.
- Does it serve others or only yourself? — divine-aligned knowledge flows outward.
- Does it deepen your longing for God or distract from it? — it should deepen.
"When a mind is empowered by [divine] knowledge it needs..." — the book describes a mind empowered not to dominate but to serve its deepest need: union with the divine.
Learn, and let learning love
The book does not reject learning — it elevates it. Knowledge is a gift of the divine intelligence, and rightly used, it becomes wisdom. The scholar and the seeker are not enemies; they are one, when both bow before the same truth.
Study, learn, master your craft — but hold it all in alignment with the divine. Then knowledge stops being a burden of facts and becomes a carrier of light.
