The Cult of Busyness
We live in a culture that worships productivity. We are human "doings" rather than human "beings." We feel guilty if we are not constantly achieving something. Meditation is the antidote to this sickness.
Doing Nothing, Intelligently
Meditation is the art of conscious non-doing. It is sitting down and allowing the universe to be, without your interference. It is a radical act of trust. You are saying, "The world can spin without my help for twenty minutes."
The Benefits of Stillness
Paradoxically, doing nothing makes us more effective. When the mind settles, the mud sinks to the bottom, and the water becomes clear. We see solutions that were hidden by our frantic activity. We recharge our nervous system and reduce stress.
Just Be
Next time you sit to meditate, don't try to "achieve" a state of peace. Don't try to stop your thoughts. Just sit. Just breathe. Just be. That is enough. You are enough.
