The Two Voices
Inside every human being, there is a dialogue. One voice is loud, demanding, fearful, and constantly seeks validation. This is the Ego. The other voice is quiet, gentle, assured, and loving. This is the Soul.
Characteristics of the Ego
The ego is built on separation. It thrives on comparison ("I am better than them") and fear ("I am not enough"). It is obsessed with the past and the future, rarely content with the present. It seeks happiness in external things—money, status, relationships—and is never truly satisfied.
Characteristics of the Soul
The soul knows its connection to the Divine. It does not need to prove anything. It is at peace with what is. The soul speaks the language of intuition and love. It seeks growth, connection, and service. Its happiness comes from within.
The Practice of Discernment
Spiritual awakening is largely the practice of discernment. When a thought arises, ask yourself: "Is this coming from fear or love? Is this seeking separation or connection?" By identifying the ego's tricks, we can choose to listen to the soul instead. This is the path to freedom.
